SHORT BIOGRAPHY:
Monica Bonvicini is an internationally recognized artist and professor of Sculpture at UdK Berlin since 2017 who works across media with spatial installations, sculptures, video, photography and drawing. In her work she investigates the relationship between power structures, gender and space, as they manifest themselves in architecture or everyday objects. In her highly praised permanent installation in Bjorvika Fjord in Norway entitled She lies (2010), she re-interprets Caspar David Friedrich’s 1824 painting Das Eismeer through symbolic references to symbols of power and change.
